ECOWAS, UEMOA, partner with USAID to launch ProFAB

The ECOWAS and UEMOA Commissions with the collaboration of the Unites States Agency for International Development (USAID), Tuesday, in Accra, Ghana, launched a $1.6m programme “Food Across Borders – ProFAB” aimed at eliminating barriers to Food trade within West Africa.

PROFAB seeks to increase food security in West Africa by eliminating barriers to cross-border trade in staple foods. The program focuses on 3 main areas, namely; improving public policies, increasing information on regional trade, and strengthening the voice of private sector and regional organizations.

The 5-year programme will be implemented by regional organizations such as Borderless Alliance, Hub Rural, CILLS, ENDA CACID, NANTS, ROPPA, COFENABEVI, WAWA, WILDAF, so on.
