The Association of Igie-Ohen or Chief Priests in Benin Kingdom has prayed to the Almighty God to help eligible voters to be wise in casting their ballots for a candidate who will take the state to the next level in terms of development.
The priests said their wishes and prayers are for a good governor who will have the interest of the people at heart in making policies that will bring development and growth to the state in all aspects of human life in a manner that will also bring joy and happiness to one and all.
Secretary of the Igie-Ohen, High Priest Osarumwense Amayo, in an address delivered on behalf of the leader of the group, during a prayer session for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate on Wednesday at Ogbeson, said, “though we are not politicians we know what is happening in our society and we pray for the best”.
On the forthcoming governorship election, he said, “it will be well with the entire people of Edo state and the election will be peaceful and free”, and “we want to assure you that all will be well in the entire state.”
Earlier Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who spoke in Benin language, introduced the state chairman of the party , Chief Dan Orbih, and said that he was sad that eight years of the Governor Adams Oshimhole-led All Progressives Congress, APC, government has only served to under-develop Edo south.
He said: “I was at Egor yesterday and went through many communities, and they have no roads, no schools , no light and no water with high population of youths and women neglected by government which should be empowering them”.
Ize-Iyamu who said he is a true son of the soil, born in Benin, fathered by a former Esogban of Benin, Chief Robert Ize-Iyamu, some of whose contemporaries were among the gathering, expressed confidence that with the prayers of the Igie-Ohen Association, backed by the eligible voters of the state he will win the election.
He said his confidence stems from the fact that many voters in Edo state are very disappointed and tired of the falsehood of the APC and want to change the APC change to the real change he will bring, stressing that he is sure that he will emerge the next governor of the state.
