Edo decides : Chief Oyegun drums support for Obaseki, APC

As the campaigns for the 2016 governorship elections in Edo state draws to a close, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun Sunday called for full support for the party at the polls.

Chief Oyegun said the appeal has become imperative now that the state is on the verge of deciding on its future adding that ” In the nearly eight years of the APC administration, all true patriots and lovers of our State must agree on the need to build upon and accelerate the current pace of development. We owe this to ourselves and coming generations.”

In his appeal message to the state, Chief Oyegun said “In the last sixteen years of democracy in our country, our State has experienced government by two political parties. It is incontestable that compared with the first ten years of the PDP administration, the nearly eight years of the present APC administration has witnessed tremendous growth in the infrastructural and human resources development of our State. I believe that all true patriots of Edo State would like a continuation of this tempo of development and even at a higher pace.

“Whatever personal misgivings that one may have, we must acknowledge the massive development that this government has brought to our State. We must look beyond ourselves and focus on the greater good of our State and her people. This is not the time to settle personal grudges. All hands must be on deck to ensure the sustained development of our State.

“I will like for us to imagine what Edo will look like in a further eight years, if another progressive government of APC is voted into office and builds upon the solid foundations of the present administration through the construction of inner roads, development of markets, re-equipping of schools, hospitals, empowerment of youths through employment in small scale factories, information technology clusters, sports development and the provision of soft loans through State organized co-operative societies for women, to grow their trades. And just imagine what explosion in business will happen when Edo sons and daughters are attracted home to make investments and add their skills to the development of our State just because one whom they can trust and relate with is the Governor of the State.

“At this time due to the severe economic downtown, our State needs a leader that is equipped to manage the economy out of recession. I believe Godwin Obaseki, because of his experience in financial management, is the best candidate to be governor of Edo State,” stressing that “as one who has been privileged by the grace of your votes to be governor of our State, and now National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ,and having experienced the rule of the two parties, I ask you to vote for Godwin Obaseki of the APC because he has the experience, the training, the intellectual rigor and the business pedigree to move our State to the next level of progress, peace and prosperity,” he said
