The Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has charged contractors handling various road construction and rehabilitation projects in the state to ensure that the standard of implementation is of high quality to justify the money his administration had spent on such projects.

Represented by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, the governor made the comment during the inspection of work done by one of the indegeneous contractors, Anbeez Services Limited, along Enugu – Oji-River – Ugwuoba – Onitsha Old Road axis.

The governor explained that his administration decided to rehabilitate failed sections of federal government-owned roads to curb the adverse effects on the state’s socio-economic fortune and give travellers a stress-free experience.

Governor Ugwuanyi noted that the road which he described as “an important gateway into the South-East” would be delivered on schedule despite the grim economic situation in the country.

The state’s Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Patrick Ikpenwa, urged the people to cultivate the habit of monitoring contractors handling road projects in their areas and inform the government of any shortcomings observed.

In his response, the Managing Director of the firm, Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, commended the governor’s enthusiasm to transform the state, adding that his firm had been fully mobilized for the job and would ensure completion on schedule.
