Enugu gov’t adopts proactive measures to enhance business development

Enugu State Government has re-affirmed commitment to sustaining and strengthening   partnership and relationship with business enterprises, in its efforts to make the state a choice business destination for prospective investors.

According to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the state, such fruitful partnership would make the state a centre of attraction for business gurus as well as providing a platform for employment creation for youths in the state.

The governor in an occasion of the 4th quarterly council meeting of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture in Enugu, noted that the organization has become a very effective and efficient organ through which the Nigerian business class influences government on a wide range of issues affecting commerce and industry.

The governor who was represented on the occasion by his deputy, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, stressed that his administration has adopted pro-active measures to sustain peace and stability in the state for businesses to thrive.

“We have also continued to invest heavily in security, infrastructural development, environmental protection and improvement and indeed in all areas that promote and sustain a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.”

The governor urged NACCIMA to become more active in the implementation of government’s policies and efforts aimed at diversifying the economy especially in this period of economic difficulties in the country.

In their separate speeches the National President of NACCIMA, Chief Bassey Edem and the President of ECCIMA, Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his various achievements in the state within six months in office and expressed sincere appreciation for the excellent relationship that has existed between his government and the chamber.

Thereafter the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture led by the President, Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye paid a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House, Enugu.

Responding to the association’s request, the governor promised to give the council adequate support to enable it make the forthcoming Enugu International Trade Fair slated to kick off from 27th March 2016 – 5th April 2016 a resounding success.
