Five out of the 36 member State Executive of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gombe State were unable to return back to the new State Executive during the State Congress held Saturday afternoon at the Gombe International Hotel.
Positions that had new entrants were the Assistant Organizing Secretary, Zonal Vice Chairman (North), Zonal Youth Leader (South), State PRO and the State Women Leader.
The election, which was conducted through affirmation by the Chairman of the State Congress Committee, Alhaji Zubairu Abubakar, saw the return of 31 members of the old executives led by Mr. Nitte K Amangal.
Briefing newsmen shortly after the Congress, Zubairu Abubakar expressed happiness with the peaceful conduct of the election.
He called on all States of the federation to take a cue from the unity of purpose exhibited by delegates and contestants during the Congress.
Leader of the party in the State, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, who reiterated his neutrality to all contestants of the party’s Gubernatorial ticket, said he has no anointed candidate.
He said, without unity between all members of the party, especially its Governorship aspirants, they cannot wrestle power out of the ruling PDP in the State.
He warned against anti-party activities saying, “no matter how bad our candidate is, it is better than working together and vote him than remaining in opposition where our needs cannot be met”.
“My greatest aspiration is to see that APC Government takes over in Gombe State. We will not rest until we achieve our dreams. And we want to assure all that Gombe State is 100 percent for President Muhammad Buhari”, he stressed.
