Funke Egbemode becomes substantive President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors

The Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, has ratified the appointment of Mrs. Funke Egbemode, Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of New Telegraph Newspapers, as President of the Guild.
The ratification, without opposition, of Mrs. Egbemode’s appointment, followed a motion moved by Malam Sani Adamu which was seconded by Angela Agoawike, both Fellows of the Guild, at the 12th All Nigerian Editors Conference, ANEC 2016, holding at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Mrs. Egbemode, who became acting President of the Guild, at the second quarterly meeting of the Guild’s Standing Committee held in Abuja recently, following the appointment of the former President, Alhaji Garba Deen Mohammed as Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, is a celebrated columnist and a former Editor in the Sun Newspapers group.
She has also worked at the The Punch and Post Express newspapers and was Special Adviser on Media to former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Olubunmi Etteh.
She becomes the second female President of the Guild, after Mrs Remi Oyo, and joins the league ofother distinguished senior journalists who have led the flagship body, including Femi Adesina, Gbenga Adefaye, Baba Dantiye, Garba Shehu and Onyema Ugochukwu.
