Ganduje rules out Kwankwaso’s return to APC

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed rumours that Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), may return to the ruling party.

Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano State, was a member of the APC and was elected to the Senate under its banner.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting of APC leaders in Kano, Ganduje criticised Kwankwaso’s style of politics, describing it as inconsistent and lacking direction.

He argued that Kwankwaso had repeatedly mocked the APC and could not be trusted to remain loyal if he chose to return.

“Now they want to return. If they come, we’ll welcome them as madmen who swallowed their vomit,” Ganduje said.

The former APC chairman insisted that the party was focused on strengthening its structures ahead of 2027 and would not be distracted by speculations about defections.
