Ghana, Portugal, Brazil win, Cameroon share spoils with Serbia; 2022 World Cup Wrap for November 28

There were four matches for November 28 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana, Brazil and Portugal secured victories over South Korea, Switzerland and Uruguay respectively while Cameroon shared the spoils with Serbia in a six-goal thriller.

Cameroon and Serbia kicked off the day’s proceedings, the Indomitable Lions going ahead through Castelleto in the 29th minute but were pegged back by two first half stoppage time strikes from Palovic and Milinkovic-Savic to trail 1-2 at the break.

Alexander Mitrovic scored in the 56th minute to extend Serbia’s lead as the Europeans looked headed for a 1-3 win until Vincent Abubakar was introduced in the 55th minute.

In the 63rd minute Vincent Abubakar scored to give Cameroon hopes of a comeback before providing the assist for Choupo Mouting to level scores at 3-3 in the 66th minute.

So, it finished as both teams secured their first points at the 2022 World Cup.

Ghana and South Korea locked horns in the second game of the day. Mustapha Salisu and Mohammed Kudus scored to give Ghana a healthy 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Black Stars were pegged back following a Cho-Gue-Sung brace in the 58th and 61st minute but Kudus had the final say in the thrilling game.

Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus scored from an Inaki Williams assist to guarantee a 3-2 win for Ghana who will go second behind Portugal ahead of the final group games.

The game between Brazil and Switzerland followed. 83 minutes of toil by the Samba boys was crowned by a superb strike by Manchester United Midfielder Casemiro to seal a 1-0 win for the South Americans.

The final game for the day pitched Portugal against Uruguay. As usual, Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed the spotlight, but it was Manchester United Midfielder Bruno Fernandes who scored both goals to give Portugal a 2-0 win over Uruguay.

With their wins today, Brazil and Portugal join defending Champions France in the Last-16 spots with a game to spare.

With Round two action complete, attention will shift to the final round of games to conclude the group stage.
