Ghastly motor accident kills Pastor, 3 others in Bayelsa community; Leaves many injured

CHINEDU WOSU, YENAGOA

A ghastly auto crash along the busy Ammassoma/ Yenagoa road in Bayelsa state claimed the lives of a Pastor identified as Adama and three other persons last weekend.

Amassoma community is located in Southern Ijaw Local government Area, the country home of late Diepreye Alamieseye, the first Civilian governor of the state.

The accident which occurred at about 3pm on Sunday also left many occupants of the vehicles with various degrees of injuries.

Our Correspondent reports that among the injured are a 300-level student of the state-owned Niger Delta University (NDU), Miss Debora Willimor.

Willimor had a broken leg and was rushed to the Glory land Medical Centre but was later relocated to a traditional bone healer by her family.

Eye witness account said that the accident involved a 14-seater bus and a private car, blaming the cause of the accident on over-speeding and reckless overtaking by the drivers.

Confirming the accident, Police Public Relations Officer, Butwat Asinim, Deputy Superintendent of Police gave the registration number of the bus and the car as Yen 279 KA, AU 162 USL, noting that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.
The PPRO also confirmed that only  one person was confirmed dead on the spot.

Contacted, Bayelsa Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) could not give details of the accident as most of its personnel said they were yet to visit the accident scene.

Speaking on her ordeal, Miss Tare, a Clerical Officer with the Federal University Otuoke, one of the survivors of the accident, said they were returning to Yenagoa from Amasoma when the incident happened
