Gombe begins distribution of palliatives to vulnerable persons.

Gombe State Government has began the distribution of palliatives to no fewer than 30 vulnerable persons in each of the 2,218 polling units of the State.

Flagging-off the distribution, the State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya said Commissioners and Special Advisers have been directed to ensure that distribution does not discriminate against anyone.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau, the Governor called on the beneficiaries to be magnanimous in sharing the items provided with their neighbours.

He said, the State Government trusts that the Committee, led by the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, will do justice in the distribution which was the reason why the Emir was called upon.

He explained that the palliatives are items received as donations from the Federal Government of Nigeria and the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) as well as items also provided by the Gombe State Government.

According to him, the covid-19 Pandemic has affected great powers of the World as such, there is so much need for the palliatives to be provided to the people.

Earlier in his address, the Emir of Gombe who doubles as the Chairman of the Gombe State Palliatives and Relief Committee, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, said the Committee had made arrangement for equitable distribution of the items to reach the real vulnerable persons in the society.

He said 30 vulnerable persons have been targeted from each of the 2,218 polling unit in the State. They include orphans, widows, physically challenged among others. Items distributed include rice, maize, Millet, sugar, spaghetti, cooking oil and salt.
