The Borno state Governor Hon. Kashim Shettima has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) Borno central senatorial ticket to run for the 2019 general elections.
Declaring the winner of the primaries, the chairman, Borno central senatorial primaries, Hon. Ahmed El Marzuk said ” Governor Kashim Shettima having scored the highest votes of 2,735 against Ali Wurge who scored a total 5 votes, and based on the powers bestowed on me by the constitution of the party and on behalf of the election committee, I hereby declare Alhaji Kashim Shettima as the winner of the election and is returned elected as the APC senatorial candidate for Borno central.”
He said a total of 2740 delegates were accredited for the elections, where Governor Shettima polled 2,735 votes against his opponent who scored 5 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Shettima, while thanking the delegates for electing him, assured them that he is going to preserve, promote and protect the interest of the people of the Borno central senatorial district, Borno state and the nation.
” I want to pay tribute to the people of Borno state for the support in the last 7 years. As I’ve been elected, am going to preserve, promote, protect and project the interest of the people of my constituency, Borno state and the country at large ,” Shettima said.
