An international organization, the Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR), with offices in Owerri, Imo State and New York, USA, has released a series of COVID 19 public service messages, in slide and video tape formats, targeted at different audiences, namely, the Mbaise general public, healthcare professionals and the youths.

This, according to a statement by Casca Ohanele, Chief Press Secretary of MPR, is ahead of the planned four weeks intensive, innovative knowledge based, Mbaise-wide, Ward to Ward “MPR Coronavirus Prevention Awareness Program (MCPAP)”.

The video messages for the Mbaise general public, the healthcare professionals in the frontlines of the COVID 19 fight, and the youths were presented by Dr Esochi Iheoma, DDS, Lady Nwamaka Oparaoji, a healthcare administrator, and Ambassador AJ Statiles, the Mbaise Youths Ambassador, respectively.

The instructions were to avoid handshakes, touching of face with unwashed or unsanitized hands, venturing outside the house unless absolutely necessary and even so to wear a protective face mask and observe social distancing. They also advocated frequent washing of hands with soap and running water or cleaning with sanitizers.

Dr Iheoma further instructed and demonstrated how to make and wear a protective face mask. Lady Oparaoji in her presentation commended the Doctors, Nurses, and other members of the healthcare team on the frontlines of the fight against COVID 19. She, thereafter, appealed to the public to do their part in not contacting the disease, and overwhelm the already overstretched healthcare systems.

The presenters also commended the MPR for taking the lead, in encouraging Mbaise sons and daughters, Mbaise organizations to donate food, cash, and other services, to the poor, to help cushion the hunger and hardship occasioned by the COVID 19 prevention measures.

“While all our members are totally committed to this project, special thanks must be given to our IT Program Director Jack Nwogu for painstakingly editing the video productions and Mr Rowland Obom for leading the slides production”, said Dr Jude Iheoma, Chief Program Director.

MPR is the premier pre-eminent Mbaise Public Policy and Business Advisory Council in the World, focused entirely on the development of Mbaise and Imo State, through the facilitation of financial and in-kind resources, private investments and private public partnerships. MPR is situated to liaise, partner, and/or collaborate with international entities, the Imo State Government and agencies, and the private sector to produce and advance policies that will fast track Mbaise and Imo State development to a first world status.
