Gunmen abduct Bayelsa monarch at Ogbogoro

The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the traditional ruler of Ogbogoro Community, His Royal Highness GG Igodo who was whisked from his home to an unknown destination.
The traditional ruler, Police said was kidnapped last Saturday, at about 10pm, by six unknown gunmen from his residence.
Although no reason has been given by the police or his immediate family for his abduction by the suspected hired gangs, the gunmen were said to have shot sporadically into the air to scare off residents before abducting the monarch.
A statement by Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswats, said members of the community alerted the Police and Patrol Teams were consequently deployed promptly.
The Police spokesman said, the hoodlums, in a bid to escape shot and injured one Alex ThankGod 18 yrs, a member of the community, in the hand and stomach.
The victim was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, and is responding to treatment, according to the police statement.
The command insisted that ‘efforts have been intensified to arrest the hoodlums who escaped with bullet wounds, through the waterways.’
