Ife Varsity (OAU) Alumni storm Dallas Texas, USA for Reunion 2022; Pro-Chancellor, VC, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, others in town

Alumni of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria have arrived Dallas, Texas, United States of America (USA) for their 2022 International Reunion.

Jubilant alumni of the foremost institution arrived Friday September 3, 2022, in their numbers and have been treated to a ‘Buka Night’ of traditional foods (amala etc.), drinks music, dance and conversation (meet and greet).

The program, which will continue till Sunday, September 5, 2022, will witness a Reunion Business Meeting and Reunion Banquet on Saturday, September 4, 2022, featuring top officials of the University, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Owelle Oscar Udoji and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Bamire.

There will be different presentations during the Business Meeting, including on “Issues of University Endowment Fund, Advancement Office, Transcripts & Global Ranking of OAU,” by Mr. Adeolu Esho, President, USA Chapter and on “Nigerian Diaspora Commission’s Vision and Strategy to Synergize with Alumni Bodies in Diaspora for the Development of the Motherland” by Hon. (Mrs.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

Panel Discussions will be moderated by Mr. Olajuwon Olaleye, Director, Wealth Management Compliance, Morgan Stanley and Dr. Oluwaleye Oluwatula, Director, Lesmod Management Consulting & Logistics LLC with Dr. Babatunde Odunsi, President/CEO Upwell Finance, New Jersey, Dr. Olusegun Apata, MD (President/CEO Great Lakes Pulmonary & Sleep Associates) and Barrister Muyiwa Babalola, Esq., Principal Partner, Joseph Babalola & Associates) GA as the key Panelists.

The Keynote Address during the Reunion Gala will be delivered by Dr. Akintoye Akindele, a Prolific Investor and Chairman, Platform Capital, who will also, with Dr. Yemi Badero, an Invasive & Interventional Cardiologist, lead the Fund-Raising for Renovation & Completion of the Alumni Hall with a target of $500k.

There will also, among other activities for the evening, be the presentation of Distinguished Alumni Awards for Excellence to Oba (Dr.) Dokun Abolarin (Humanity & Social Engineering), Dr. Olusegun Apata (Medicine) and Dr. Akintoye Akindele (Finance & Investment Services). A past Vice Chancellor of the University, the iconic Emeritus Professor, Wande Abimbola, will also be specially celebrated.

The last day of the Reunion2022 for ‘Great Ife’ Alumni will see participants attending Church Service and going for a Reunion Picnic at the Frisco Commons Park in Frisco, Texas before being ready for departure with loads of pleasant memories that should linger till the next Reunion in 2024.
