The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh has set a new political record in the state by donating 100 per cent of his salary to six Youth Leaders from the six LGAs in Imo North, also known as Okigwe Zone.
The latest political record came barely 48 hours after the Speaker visited Heartland FC of Owerri during the unveiling of new players of the team at the Dan Anyiam stadium, where the Speaker received accolades from the over 10,000 fans of the club present at the event.
The Speaker has through his leadership style and magnanimity, gained huge support across political lines, for the administration of Gov. Hope Uzodimma and his 3R mantra.
The donation of 100 per cent of his salary as Speaker was a total change of narrative which will stand the test of time in the political history of Imo state.
The cerebral Speaker has invented a political structure in Imo that has deepened support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Gov. Hope Uzodimma.
The Speaker who was accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, the Chief Whip and Hon. Commissioner for Youths and Sports stressed that the donation of his salary for every month to the APC Youth Leaders is in keeping with his commitment and dedication to supporting the party in Obowo, Okigwe Zone, and Imo State by extrapolation, ably led by the state Chairman, Dr. MacDonald Ebere.
He stated that for him, every person with sincerity of purpose and love for the state should support the governor and the 3R agenda.
The Speaker assured of his commitment to ensuring the growth of the party in the zone and Imo as he would do everything within the legitimate confines of his means to ensure that the party grows in strength and is fully reinforced at all levels.
He promised to work out other modalities for extending encouragement to other party loyalists in the state.
The Chairman of the party, MacDonald Ebere, thanked the Speaker for his uncommon gesture and described him as the best thing that has happened to Imo State House of Assembly.
He noted that the Speaker happens to be the first high profile office holder to visit the party and in a grand style. He thanked the Speaker and the leadership of the 9th House and promised them the support of the party at all times.
The chairman noted that this was the first time such a thing happened in the annals of Imo state politics and further enjoined other stakeholders to selflessly support the government of Imo irrespective of party sentiments.
