Imo State Governor Uzodinma receives remains of Late Chief Iwuanyanwu
In a very emotional moment, at the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, the Governor of Imo state, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, received from the chairman of the burial Local Organising Committee, Prince Charles Amadi, the remains of the late President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief (Engr). Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu (Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo).
The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, on receiving the body, described the late Ahaejiagamba as ”a father to all Imolites”. He went on to praise his heroic sojourn on earth as “a true Igbo son, who epitomized the rare and enviable industrious trait of the Igbos”.
“Ahaejiagamba was a true and dependable Imo son, great and quintessential Igbo leader and a detribalised Nigerian, who selflessly stood firm for the interest of all”, the Governor eulogized.
The Governor also recalled the immense contributions of the late Ahaejiagamba to the establishment of the Sam Mbakwe Airport, noting that he committed his time, energy and resources to the actualization of the project, not knowing that, one day, in the annals of history, he would be journeying to his final resting place, enroute the same Airport he spearheaded its construction.
The Governor condoled with the family of the late Ahaejiagamba, all Imolites, Ndigbo ‘gburugburu’ and Nigerians at large, urging all to ensure the immortalization of the late Chief Iwuanyanwu’s name in their hearts by upholding his visions and legacies.
Prince Charles Amadi, in his speech, confessed being a graduate of Chief Iwuanyanwu’s ‘political institution,’ and that he benefitted immensely from his political family, reach and prowess. He regretted the demise of the business mogul and influential leader of great repute.
The solemn event attracted many dignitaries including the husband of the Deputy Governor, Chief (Barr). Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN, the Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, Secretary to the Imo State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu, Chief of Staff to the Government of Imo State, Chief (Barr). Nnamdi Anyaehie, Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Sir (Barr). Tobechi Ekomaru, members of the Imo House of Assembly, former APC State Chairman, Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo, Commissioners and other Government appointees, top brass of the Military and Paramilitary in the State, Leaders and members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other notable personalities.
