Insurgents burn down Borno village; Kill 1 person, cart away livestock, food items

No fewer than one person was killed and many others injured, when suspected members of Boko Haram  on Wednesday set ablaze Mammanti Village of Jere local government area of Borno state, burning down over 30 houses and carting away livestock and food stuffs..
Mammanti village is on the outskirts, less than five kilometres away from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
A resident of the area, Abubakar Mammanti, who fled the village told our correspondent in Maiduguri that the insurgents came in large numbers and start shooting sporadically before setting the village ablaze.
“The insurgents who came at about 9:00 am on Wednesday started shooting sporadically and set ablaze over 30 houses, killing one person and injuring  several others before carting away livestock and food items,” Mammanti narrated.
He said “many people had to flee the village and sleep in the bush  for their safety and as I am speaking to you some are still missing in the bush, because some of our people have returned back.”
He called on  President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai to do something and save their lives, as the insurgents are gradually trying to occupy their villages and if possible attack Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
This attack is coming few day after the insurgents attacked Bale village, less than 7 kilometers away from Giwa Barracks, Maiduguri, where one person was also killed and over 300 cows were carted away.
At the time filing in this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, Borno state Command, DSP Edeet Ikon  could not be reached , as his line was switched off.
