Israeli president praises UN Security Council vote on Gaza
Tel Aviv, Nov. 18, 2025
Israeli President Isaac Herzog has praised the adoption of the Gaza resolution in the UN Security Council and described it as a “landmark,” in a statement on Tuesday.
“I want to congratulate President Donald Trump for the incredible achievement,” Herzog said in a speech in Jerusalem, according to his office.
Herzog also called on the countries of Europe to make it clear to the Palestinian leadership that it must implement reforms and stop funding terrorists.
Israel regularly criticises the Palestinian Authority (PA), which administers parts of the West Bank, for paying money to prisoners in Israeli jails and to the surviving dependants of attackers.
The PA recently announced its intention to stop these payments.
Herzog spoke out in favour of the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, as mentioned in the resolution, and a “decent life” for the population there.
Earlier on Monday, 13 of the 15 UN Security Council members voted in New York in favour of a resolution introduced by the United States to secure the Gaza peace plan.
