Kidnapped Sierra Leonean envoy rescued

Deputy High Commissioner of Sierra Leone in Nigeria, Maj. Gen. Alfred Nelson William, who was kidnapped along Abuja- Kaduna last Friday, has regained his freedom., according to police statement.
Force Public Relations, Donald Awunah, confirmed last night in a text message that Willliams who was rescued by the police, Tuesday has reunited with the High Commission and his family.
“The ambassador was released at about 16:00hrs along Abuja- Kaduna Road.
“Following credible intelligence and technical support, there was intense police activities on both land and air patrol within the area. The General is feasibly in good condition.
“The acting IGP, Ibrahim Idris, wishes to assure the members of the Diplomatic Corps and other foreign nationals of their safety and security in Nigeria.”
The police however did not say if ransom was paid for the envoy’s release or not.
His abductors had earlier demanded N30m ransom during negotiations with embassy officials.
