Former minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, has canvassed more community policing and social justice in tackling herdsmen/farmers clashes in the country.
Speaking, Wednesday, when he visited Chief Olu Falae at his country home in Akure, Ondo state capital, the former Kano State Governor pointed out that the issue has become a nationwide menace.
According to him, it was unfortunate that when the country was attempting to get better, it was being confronted by kidnapping of its prominent indigenes.
”We all should get involved in community policing, give information to the police on suspicious movements. Armed robbery, insurgency are all global problems; but kidnapping innocent people that had served Nigeria should be condemned by all. This should not be the price for serving the nation diligently.”
He commended security agents for moving in fast to facilitate the release of the elder statesman.
Responding, Chief Falae stated that he would be happy if his travail would further hasten the unity of the country
