Lagos Attorney General woos NBA

Lagos State Attorney-General (AG) and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem has advocated a more cordial working relationship between the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the State Ministry of Justice.

Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association [NBA], the Commissioner described the association as a veritable platform for all stakeholders in the legal profession to learn, exchange ideas and retool, noting that cooperating with the government would help to uplift the quality of justice delivery in the State.

The AG expressed his desire to meet members of the Bar periodically and proposed a quarterly parley with them in order to foster stronger ties with the government.

He reaffirmed his intention to introduce more active communication channels between the state government and the association, stressing that his preferred mode of communication is in conformity with the present time’s modern means of communication which is faster and more effective.

The AG noted that, the present administration led by Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode will focus more on people oriented policies and give the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) maximum support.

Responding, the leadership of the NBA pledged support for the State Government for socio-economic well being of the people.

Furthermore the association solicited for the assistance of the AG in getting the judiciary to give adequate notice to members of the Bar whenever the judges for any reason will not be able to sit while also soliciting for more court rooms in Badagry.
