Manchester City fight back to earn dramatic draw against Everton

Manchester City came from behind to secure a thrilling 3-3 draw against Everton in a tense Premier League encounter on Monday.

The result keeps City’s title hopes alive, although they now sit five points behind league leaders Arsenal.

City were the better side in the opening half and deservedly took the lead in the 43rd minute through Jeremy Doku. The winger curled a fine shot into the far corner beyond Jordan Pickford.

Everton improved after the break and found an equaliser in the 68th minute when substitute Thierno Barry took advantage of a mistake by Marc Guehi inside the penalty area.

The hosts completed the turnaround five minutes later as Jake O’Brien powered in a header from James Garner’s corner kick.

Everton appeared to have sealed victory in the 81st minute after Merlin Rohl squared the ball for Barry to score his second goal and make it 3-1.

But City responded immediately through Erling Haaland, who finished calmly after breaking through Everton’s defence.

In stoppage time, Doku rescued a point for City with another brilliant strike from outside the box to complete an entertaining six-goal contest.

Manchester City now need Arsenal to lose points in their remaining matches if they are to keep their Premier League crown.
