The Chief Eno Udo Unanaowo family in Atibe community, Afaha Eket, Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has raised the alarm over the whereabouts of their daughter, Ms Eunice Eno Udo who has been missing since February this year.
The victim’s elder brother, Mr. Akpan Eno told Global Patriot Newspapers, GPN, that his sister, 34, and former contract staff of Mobil Producing Nigeria Limited, Ibeno was abducted at her residence in Nung Obio Enang, off Idoro road in Uyo metropolis on February 4, 2016.
Akpan, while narrating the incident said, the suspect (names withheld) who hails from Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State was linked to her sister by one Mr. Obasi since she wanted to sell her vehicle which was placed for sale on Ikot Ekpene road.
According to him, “One Mr. Obasi introduced the suspect to my sister, who went with her to remove the vehicle from the car stand opposite No.112 Ikot Ekpene road.
“The suspect took the vehicle out, with my sister to her own house at Nung Obio Enang, off Idoro road to collect the vehicle’s documents, while her private car that she went with was left behind at the car stand along Ikot Ekpene road.
After collecting the vehicle documents, he drove away with my sister and since then, she has not been seen again.
“Earlier that eventful Thursday, my sister had dropped off her only daughter in school in the morning and, when she should pick up her child again in school that day, she was not found.
“But the security man who was available at home when the suspect drove her to the house to pick the documents said, he overheard the suspect speak in Hausa language with a caller on the telephone who spoke with him while he was at my sister’s house, “I am in the woman’s house now, I dey bring her,” not knowing that, the gateman is a Hausa man. The gateman had also lodged his statement with the Police at State Police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia”.
Mr. Akpan further maintained that, the suspect who is now cooling off in a police cell, never wanted to tell them where he kept their sister as investigation revealed, he was the one that took the bus to Akwa Ibom Transport Bus Terminal for sale that day.
Meanwhile, the family has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase over the abduction.
They appealed to the Police IG to prevail on the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 6, Calabar to carry out a thorough investigation that can unravel the whereabouts of their missing daughter as the entire family was in turmoil since the suspect left with her.
In a letter by the family’s attorney, Joshua S. Joshua and Associates tagged, “Re: Case of Abduction of Eunice Eno Udo by Chigozie Chidiebelu Chinweuba dated April 15, 2016 which was made available to newsmen in Uyo, “The above named suspect, who is a known criminal, contacted our client’s daughter for some business transactions with intention to abduct/kidnap her and on February 4, 2016 the suspect visited our client’s daughter in her home and drove out with her in her car only to come back alone her private car and parked at her residence and came back the following day impersonating himself as a naval officer and packed her properties, vehicles documents, cash, land agreement etc, while at the same time terrorizing other tenants and neighbours.
“Since 4th day of February, 2016 that the suspect went out with our client’s daughter, she has not been found. The matter was first reported at Itam Police Station and the suspect was arrested and later transferred to State Police Headquarters, Uyo.
“Due to the shoddy investigation process at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, we wrote a petition for the case to be transferred to Zone 6 Calabar, for proper investigation and prosecution of the culprit.
“We sincerely believe that with your zero tolerance for criminals of this kind, justice will surely prevail”.
