Mrs Aisha Buhari inaugurates committee for distribution of relief materials to insurgency victims in Borno

The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has inaugurated a 12 member Committee for the resettlement and distribution of assorted relief materials she donated to the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Borno State to alleviate their sufferings .

Mrs. Buhari, while delivering the relief materials at the Government House Maiduguri, said “My main purpose of personally coming to Maiduguri is to sympathize with those affected by the Boko Haram insurgency and deliver these relief materials to alleviate their sufferings.”

The wife of the President said she has constituted a committee of eleven women under the chairperson of Nana Kashim Shettima to make sure that the materials are distributed equitably among those affected by the insurgency. The committee’s terms of reference include taking stock of the materials and giving her feedback on the distribution.

Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari who was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the Senate President and wives of the Governors of Adamawa, Ogun, Bauchi and Nasarawa states, praised the effort of Mrs Olafunsho Amosu, the wife of the Ogun state Governor for climbing the highest mountain in Africa, Mountain Kilimanjaro, in order to raise funds to assist the IDPs.

Wife of the Borno State Governor, Nana Shettima said that Mrs Buhari is committed to the reconstruction of destroyed communities, so that those displaced can return to their communities soon, adding that the insurgency is almost coming to an end, as the military has intensified offensive against the Boko Haram terrorists.

“Your Excellency, your coming to Maiduguri and the donation of relief materials is a clear demonstration of your motherly care to the IDPs and the people of Borno. We are most grateful for this effort and the care being provided to millions of our IDPs through NEMA and other Federal Government agencies,” Nana Shettima said.

While at the Shehu of Borno`s place, the Shehu Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar El-kanemi said before the inception of President Muhammadu Buharis administration on 29 May 2015 people of Borno state have undergone serious hardship that includes the closure of the Airport, capturing of many communities by Boko Haram insurgents and disconnection from electricity supply but thanked God with the inception of president administration electricity re4stored, insurgency is ending and airport re-opened.

He also thanked president Buhari for appointing sons of Borno into exalted positions such as Chief of Artmy Staff Adviser but urged him to do more, more especially through the recruitment of members of Ciovilian JTF into the security outfits.

The Shehu thanked the wife of the president for her concern for the Infernally Displaced Persons and the provision of the relief material to the IDPs, adding that the gesture will go along way in assisting the IDPs more especially now that they ready to go back to their liberated communities.
