Mrs. Obiano lauds Skye Bank, Anukwu for supporting CAFE with tools, household items

The wife of the governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano has commended Skye Bank for supporting the empowerment programmes of her pet project, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ) by donating 25 Butterfly branded of sewing machines.

The twenty-five sewing machines were delivered to Mrs. Obiano, the sponsor and focal person on CAFE over the weekend at her Aguleri country home, Anambra East Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Receiving the gifts, Chief (Mrs.) Obiano thanked Skye Bank immensely for identifying with Anambra State under the leadership of Chief Willie Obiano and by extension her pet project, CAFE. According to the wife of the governor, “I commend you for this gesture, it shows that you are conscious of what is happening in your environment, and is willing to contribute your quota to improving and empowering Ndi Anambra. Rest assured that we will give the machines to our skills acquisition graduates who really need it to take-off. Like Oliver Twist, we will continue to request assistance from you and other organizations and persons who can intervene through CAFÉ to make the lives of others meaningful.”

Presenting the sewing machines, the leader of the Skye Bank delegation, Regional Manager South-East 1, Dr. Charles Udogu, told Chief (Mrs.) Obiano that they came to fulfill their promise and to assure her that the bank has been a keen observer of her empowerment programmes  for women under CAFE. Said Dr. Udogu: “At Skye Bank, we follow your CAFE projects and have found you a very committed promoter of the course of women, and a person we can partner with to improve the fortunes of women in Anambra. We were proved right when we saw your busy schedule of activities during the last August meeting and waited patiently to meet with you.”

Speaking further, Dr. Udogu said that Skye Bank is at home in Anambra State and therefore always think and dream Anambra in the course their financial transactions and would like to be recognized as an embedded financial partner not just with CAFE but with the Anambra State government.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State First Lady has received 20 motorcycles and 20 gas cookers courtesy of a philanthropist and Managing Director of Tona Geological Services, Chief Dr. Tony Anukwu in support of the pet project. The motorcycles and gas cookers were recently presented to CAFE at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia.

Receiving the items, Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Mrs. Obiano expressed appreciation to Chief Anukwu and his wife for their continuous support and identification with CAFE. The obviously impressed governor’s wife stated,

“I am impressed with what is happening here today. It is a confirmation that God loves Anambra State. This further confirms that my decision to register CAFE, an NGO that caters for the whole of the family is not in vain. The fact that philanthropists and our people are joining hands with us is a thing of joy that should be commended.”

Chief Mrs. Obiano recalled that although ” I have been doing selfless work before I became the Wife of the Governor, I sometimes get worried at the enormity of the task but I also believe that we have prominent sons and daughters of Anambra who are their brothers keepers like the Managing Director of Tona Geological Services, Mr Tony Anukwu and his amiable wife. I thank them for their kind gesture.”

The wife of the Governor urged other philanthropists to emulate Chief Dr. Anukwu and join hands with CAFE to empower indigent women and widows and others in need to make the state better for all.

‎Speaking on their motivations for the donation, Chief Dr. Anukwu said they have followed closely the empowerment programme of the Wife of the Governor and decided to support her.

“We are here to identify with the wife of the governor for her continuous care for the less privileged and the indigent in support of the work of the governor. We have been monitoring CAFE programmes right from Lagos where she lived before joining her husband in the service of our people. ‎My family and friends will continue to support CAFE.” He stated

Chief Dr. Anukwu also disclosed that a good friend, Mr. Charles after hearing what he is doing has pledged to donate generously to CAFE to enable the NGO empower many others in Anambra State. He urged others to emulate their gesture by contributing to the upkeep of the less privileged and partnering with CAFE.
