Nestle Nigeria Plc through its Nutrition Institute Africa, held a workshop for the media at the Agbara, Lagos Factory of the multi-national on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.
The well attended workshop which had the aim of furthering the understanding of the Science of Nutrition, had as its theme, ’Good Nutrition A Way of Life.’
The Agbara Factory Manager of Nestle Nigeria Plc, Hbaika Walid Joseph welcomed the health/nutrition writers to the expansive and ultra modern factory while the Head, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Central and West African Region(CWAR), Nestle Plc, Mrs. Peggy Diby, gave her opening remarks to pave the way for the illuminating presentations that followed.
Chioma E. Emma-Nwachukwu of the Nestle Nutrition Institute Africa, NNIA, Anglophone CWAR gave a presentation on Creating Shared Value at Nestle; the newly elected President of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (who made it a point to let those present know that he is for now President-elect), Dr. Bartholomew I.C.Brai spoke eloquently on the Importance of Early Nutrition and Long Term Health while celebrated Nutrition writer and Deputy Editor of Guardian Newspapers, Lagos, Mr. Chukwuma Muanya spoke on Nutrition Reporting: The Critical Role of the Media.
There was a facility tour of the production lines of the factory and a visit to the Company’s water project that serves the community before the Executive Manager-Stakeholder Relations of Nestle Nigeria Plc, Marie Owoniyi, gave the closing remarks to bring the workshop that stressed the importance of good nutrition in the first 1000 days of a child to a close.
