New Ministers assume office; Buhari appoints 18 new Permanent Secretaries, re-assigns others

As President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurates the Federal Executive Council, FEC, Wednesday, he has approved the appointment of 18 new Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service.

The appointment is coming after the retirement of some Permanent Secretaries and redeployment of others Tuesday.

A statement on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina communicated these major developments.

The Permanent Secretaries affected by the movements include those of Power, Petroleum, Finance, Defence, Housing and Urban Development and Special Duties.

Their retirement was communicated to them at a meeting with the President in the Villa and follows the recent appointment of a new Head of Service, Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita who, in the civil service hierarchy is their junior.

The re-organised civil service will welcome the new ministers as they begin their tenures and are expected to drive the change agenda of the government from the background.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:

3. Mr. Taiwo Abidogun
4. Dr. Bukar Hassan
5. Mrs. Wakama Belema Asifieka

8. Mrs. Obiageli Phyllis Nwokedi
9. Mr. Aminu Nabegu
10. Mr. Bamgbose Olukunle Oladele
11. Mr. Alo Williams Nwankwo

The statement by Adesina said further that the new appointments and deployments are with effect from Tuesday, November 10, 2015.
