 Nigerian Journalist, Mighty George, sets 100 hours Guinness World Record for Longest Radio Talk Show

Nigerian broadcaster, George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as Mighty George, has reached 100 hours in his Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Talk Show on Radio.

The historic feat was achieved at exactly 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Comfort 95.1FM in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The previous record of 88 hours was held by Taishi Masuoka from Matsubara, Japan.

Mighty George, who was named Nigerian Broadcaster of the Year in 2023, began the marathon talk show at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025. As he hit the 100-hour mark, the station compound erupted in celebration, with cheers from invited guests and supporters who had gathered to witness the historic moment. Social media platforms also buzzed with excitement as fans congratulated the seasoned broadcaster.

Reacting to his feat, the marathoner wrote on his social media handles:

“I have successfully completed my 100 hours Guinness World Record Attempt for the Longest Talk Show on Radio.

At exactly 4am on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Comfort 95.1FM Uyo, I clinched the 100 hours feat for a new record.

Grateful to God for the strength to sail through and to everyone out there for the massive support.

WHAT A RUSSSHHHH!!!!!!! ”

Despite surpassing the previous world record and setting a new 100 hours record, Mighty George is not stopping just yet. He is continuing with the talk show, hosting more guests in the studio as he looks to further extend his new record and strengthen his place in history.

The achievement is currently awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records.
