Foreign nationals, especially Nigerian passengers in transit through the Lome Airport in Togo are being given a raw deal by the Ethiopean Airlines and Togolese authorities.

As at Saturday afternoon, there was a backlog of passengers going from the United States of America (US) to Nigeria who were stranded as they were told that the aircraft supposed to take them on that leg of their trip was fully booked.

The passengers, who protested the treatment being meted out to them were rough handled by Togolese security agents with some handcuffed while the phones of the passengers were ordered seized.

The Director of the Airport was said to have come to the scene and supported the seizing of the phones of all the passengers.

Attempts to reach Nigeria authorities were not successful as at press time.
