Nigeria’s Adamu Mohammed Abdulhamid elected Chairperson of WTO Trade Policy review body

Ambassador (Dr) Adamu Mohammed Abdulhamid, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO), has been elected the Chairperson of the WTO Trade Policy Review Body for the 2024/2025 term. His inauguration took place last Wednesday at the WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Prior to this prestigious appointment, Ambassador Abdulhamid served as the Chairperson of the WTO Trade Facilitation Committee for the 2022/2023 period. His leadership in this role showcased his commitment to enhancing trade facilitation measures within the WTO framework.

Furthermore, in 2023, he held the position of Chairperson for the WTO Council for Trade in Goods, overseeing the activities of 14 subsidiary bodies throughout the 2023/2024 term. His tenure in this capacity demonstrated his adeptness in managing complex trade-related issues and fostering dialogue among member states.

Ambassador Abdulhamid’s election as Chairperson of the WTO Trade Policy Review Body underscores Nigeria’s commitment to playing an active and influential role in global trade governance.
