
The High Commissioner of Nigeria to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ambassador Ayo Luther Ogbomode, has presented her Letters of Credence to President Dr. Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, at a ceremony held at State House, Freetown.
During the audience that followed the presentation, the Nigerian Principal Envoy conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria. She reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship, cooperation, and brotherhood that have historically united the two countries.
The High Commissioner warmly congratulated President Bio on his assumption of the Chairmanship of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and further expressed Nigeria’s confidence in his leadership.
She also conveyed Nigeria’s belief that, under his stewardship, ECOWAS would continue to advance regional integration, democratic governance, economic prosperity, peace, and collective security across West Africa.
In his response, President Bio conveyed his appreciation to President Tinubu and the Government of Nigeria for their goodwill and continued support. He reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s strong commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Nigeria, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, education, security cooperation, capacity building, and regional integration.
He also emphasized that Nigeria and Sierra Leone enjoy an excellent and enduring relationship founded on a shared history, common values, and mutual respect.
