Bauchi state Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has dedicated their 2020 Medical Week to the former Commissioner of health in the state, Dr Zuwaira Hassan who died in an accident on Monday at Zaranda Village in Bauchi metropolis, to honor her for her numerous achievements in the health sector in the state.
The State Chairman of the association, Dr Adamu Sambo disclosed this to journalists during the flagoff of activities for the 2020 Nigeria Medical Association week with theme, “Strategies for Health System Recovery during the COVID 19 pandemic in Nigeria”, held at the Maigoro plaza in Bauchi. He described her death as a great shock saying that her death is a big loss to the people of the state.
Dr Adamu Sambo stated that the Late Doctor was an active and fulfilled member of the medical association in the state saying that medical week is dedicated to her for her numerous achievements in the health sector in the state.
He added, “the death of Zuwaira came as a shock, not only to us, but to everyone in the state.She was an active member of this association who has made tremendous impact in the health sector, particularly when she was Commissioner”
According to him,”this medical week is dedicated to her, in order to give her the honour for her life of dedication and commitment to her work.” He said that the late Commissioner’s death had left a big vacuum in their hearts that would be difficult to fill, stressing that she would be greatly missed and praying that God would comfort the family and grant her eternal repose.
The Chairman also described the late Commissioner as a very humble, kind, simple and easy-going person, noting that nobody can fault her for anything as she always carry everybody along in the discharge of her duties.
As part of the medical week, Dr Adamu Sambo said that the association would embark on a Medical Outreach at Duguri community in Alkaleri local government of Bauchi state and a visit to orphanage home.
