As the Nation heads to yet another general election in 2019, the need for Edo South to have a strong voice to represent it has been stressed.
Sam Ogbemudia Jr., son of late elder statesman , Dr Sam Ogbemudia made this call while speaking with
newsmen in Benin over the current political development in the country.
Ogbemudia said Edo South currently does not have a strong voice to speak for it, wondering where are all those who wished his father dead were now? Now is the time to speak out over the neglect of Edo South in the scheme of things in the country, he stressed.
Continuing, Sam Junior lamented that presently, Edo South is been marginalized since it can only boast of Junior minister of state for health in the last four years.
He lamented the total neglect of the Benin -Okene road which has become a death trap following long years of neglect by successive governments, noting that wrong people are in position of authority hence the people are suffering.
“… It is high time the youths are given the right atmosphere to operate as they have the energy to work,” he said, lamenting the ugly situation which presently makes it impossible for the youths to seek elective offices since the price money is too much for them to aspire to power.
He commended the Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki for the developmental strides of his government, urging him to continue and not be distracted by current happenings in the country.
He said that the Governor Obaseki administration is trying in terms of infrastructural development and building of institutions in the state and therefore called on his local government counterpart to emulate him.
He however called on the electorate to vote in the right persons since 2019 has provided another opportunity for them to do so during the coming general election.
According to him, the right people are not in position hence, the current insecurity and hunger in the land. There are so many saboteurs in the present government both at State and Federal level, hence, it is difficult for the people to feel the impact of government and enjoy dividends of democracy.
He called on President Buhari to beam his searchlight on his cabinet and throw out the bad eggs in the government so that the people can begin to feel the impact of the giant strides which he has recorded in
his first tenure.
