Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has expressed deep shock, regret and sadness over the death of Dr Gamaliel Oforitsenere Onosode, who died, Tuesday.

Okowa in a condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Charles Aniagwu, described Onosode’s death at 82 as a great loss to Deltans and Nigerians in general, adding further that Onosode was a great technocrat, administrator, astute and disciplined politician, who engraved his footprints on the sands of time having served his fatherland meritoriously in different capacities.

Okowa, while condoling with the Urhobo nation in the state, said that Onosode’s death came at a time when his service, contribution and ideas were most needed.

“We, however, take solace in the fact that the late Icon’s sojourn on earth remains a huge blessing to humanity,” he said.

The governor said that the icons rich ideas would have come handy in the present socio- economic and political uncertainties in the country.

He prayed God to grant his immediate family, the people of the state and his associates the fortitude to bear the loss.

Okowa also prayed God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.
