Omo-Agege, Wike commiserates with Gov. Okowa over father’s death

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has expressed condolences over the death of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s father, Sir Arthur Okorie Uzoma Okowa.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Senator Omo-Agege noted that Sir Arthur Okowa led a fulfilling life and endeared himself to his people who continue to appreciate his worth.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, also sent a message of condolence to his Delta State counterpart, Governor Okowa, describing the death of his late father and patriarch of the Okowa family as a great loss to the people of Delta State.

Senator Omo-Agege said: “I was shocked to hear of his passing in the early hours of Thursday, January 28.

“As a father to many other than his biological children, Sir Arthur Okorie Uzoma Okowa meant a lot to the people of Owa Alero in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State where he was born in 1932.

“Popularly called ‘AOU’ by all, Sir Okowa, the Okpara-Uku of Owa-Alero remained close to his place of birth and he inspired many towards achieving true greatness.

“I sincerely commiserate with the family of our dear Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the good people of Owa-Alero over the transition of this great man to eternal realms.

“May God Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and grant all whom he left behind, fortitude to bear this irreparable loss”.

Gov. Wike, in his condolence message, said that the late Chief Okowa who was an astute administrator and community leader died at a time his wise counsel would be greatly needed.

In another development, Governor Wike also commiserated with Governor Okowa over the death of the Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sir Kim Kome Owerefe, Esq representing Isoko North Constituency.

Governor Wike described the two deaths coming at the same time as a double tragedy for Delta State.

He assured Governor  Okowa and the people of Delta State that the government and people of Rivers State share in their pain and moment of grief.

The Governor prayed God to comfort the bereaved families and grant the souls of the deceased eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.
