Oshiomhole accuses Atiku of divorcing Jennifer Douglas after election defeat

Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of divorcing his wife, Jennifer Douglas, after losing the presidential election.

Oshiomhole made the allegation on Monday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State.

The former Edo State governor claimed that Atiku had promised to make Jennifer, whom he said was from the South-East, Nigeria’s First Lady if he won the presidential election.

According to Oshiomhole, Atiku married Jennifer and established a foundation for her but later filed for divorce after losing the election.

He made the comments while responding to Atiku’s alleged criticism of President Bola Tinubu, warning the former vice president against abusing the president.

Oshiomhole said: “Like somebody said the other day that Atiku went to the Southeast and said, ‘If I win election, your daughter would be the First Lady, that was when he married Jennifer.

“Because he likes abusing our president, so we must reply: he married Jennifer, set up a foundation for her and at the end of the day, he lost the election, and he went ahead and divorced her; he took her to court, is that not true? We must have the courage to mention their names if they have no respect for mentioning our leader’s name.”

His comments came amid political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
