Pastor Adeboye declares seven-day fasting, prayer programme; Asks God to banish darkness from Nigeria, the world

Pastor E. A Adeboye, General Overseer, RCCG

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has declared a seven-day fasting and prayer programme that will run from November 26 to December 2, 2022. The programme, he said, will, among others, be to confess to God and ask for His mercy.

Pastor Adeboye, who made the declaration at the Holy Ghost Service of the 2022 International Youth Convention of the Church on Friday, October 8, 2022, said the fasting and prayer programme will essentially be towards praying for ourselves, stressing that God still answers prayers.
The Youth Convention, with the theme “Shine Forth,” which started on Monday, October 3, 2022, held at the Redemption City, RCCG, Lagos -Ibadan Expressway and was attended by huge crowds of youths and others from all over the world.
He said that the fact that Nigeria is still standing as a nation is a miracle and testimony of the fact that God answers prayers, noting that a very senior Moslem told him recently that it is the prayers of people like him (Pastor Adeboye) that has sustained the nation thus far.
The highly respected Cleric said further that if you say we have been praying all along and have not got all the answers expected, we should pray more till our joy be full, hence the seven-day fasting and prayer programme.
He pointed out that Christians are called by God to prayers for the healing of the nation, noting that whatever wrong is happening in the country was the fault of Christians who have not been praying enough.
He prayed for God to banish darkness from Nigeria, from the world and from individuals, pointing out that children of God are by Divine Decree the light that should shine forth unto the world.
He took his message from Matthew 5:14-16 and before commencement of the message asked the huge congregation, including those that participated in the programme virtually, to tell those near them “Good morning” because according to him, God said that “a day better than all the days you have ever known is about to dawn.”
He said that to shine forth means to be blessed to become a blessing to others, to become light to shine for others, to overflow, stressing that to shine, people must, among others, praise God, testify of His goodness, serve Him, follow Him, minister to Him.
He also announced that the theme of the next Holy Ghost Service, which will hold on November 4, 2022, is “Let it Rain.”
