Following the mass defections of over 2,000 ardent supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, loyalists to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa state last weekend, the PDP has said it would hold a victory rally in Yenagoa, Tuesday August 25.
The proposed rally is to re-establish the PDP’s strenght in the state ahead of the governorship election scheduled for December 5, 2015.
In a statement by the party’s Secretary, Hon Keku Godspower, made public in Yenagoa, Godspower said the rally is to celebrate in advance the party’s resounding victory in the 2015 general elections.
The event, which is scheduled to hold at the Siasia Stadium,Yenagoa, Bayelsa State will be chaired by the National Chairman of the party and and have in attendance other members of the National Executive Committee, NEC, Board of Trustees, BOT, and the party’s supporters.
Others to grace the rally include state Governors, National Assembly members and State Chairmen of the party from across the length and breadth of the state.
The Victory Rally, Godpower said, will also serve the purpose of dedicating the party’s victory to God and provide opportunity for the leadership of the Party to appreciate its members and supporters in the state.
Last weekend some former chieftains and erstwhile ardent supporters of the PDP, including two former Acting Governors, Acting Speakers of the State’s House of Assembly, Party Chairman, Senators and commissioners had decamped to the APC.
