PDP is a party united by unbroken bond of love – former APC chieftain

Abudu (Edo), July 13, 2020

A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo, Mr Newman Ugiagbe has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a party united by unbroken bond of love and hunger for development of Edo state.

Ugiagbe stated this on Monday in Abudu, Council Headquarters of Orhiomwon Local Government Area when he led Government Appointees and APC Members who have dumped the party from the 12 Wards of Orhionmwon to meet with their PDP counterparts as they familiarize with each other.

While appreciating the party for wholeheartedly accommodating the decampees he reiterated their resolve to join the party in winning the forthcoming Sept 19 Governorship Election.

He added that victory was sure at the polls if they remain committed and diligent and focused on the task ahead, which is to ensure Gov Godwin Obaseki’s victory.
He, however, stressed the need for the party loyalists to ensure that their votes are protected from the unit level to the Collation Centers.
According to him, “Elections are either won or lost at the polling units.

“We shall resist vehemently all plans by the APC to rig the upcoming Governorship Election in the State.
“We must ensure our votes are protected no matter the intimidation. The Collective will of Edo people will never be circumvented by a greedy few”.

Ugiable, who is the Special Adviser to Obaseki on Community Development, also said that the familiarisation visit was imperative so that the PDP members can know their new brothers and sisters with a view to working together for a common goal.

Responding, Chief Joe Akhimien (SAN), a PDP leader in the Local Government Area expressed joy at the caliber of persons who have joined the party, adding that he was very confident and convinced beyond doubt that the PDP was heading to victory come Sept 19.

He therefore pleaded with all to be united and build on the love which was currently prevalent within the PDP family. He also called on all Party faithful to ensure PDP flag remains in Osadebey Avenue beyond Sept 19, noting that all hands must be on deck to deliver Godwin Obaseki.

Present at the meeting were the Council Chairman, Mr Sylvester Okoro, Mr Asoro Roland, the Council Secretary, Mr Okankan Sunday, and Sunday Iyamu a party chieftain.

Others were Lady Uwa Osunbor, a PDP chieftain, Mr Friday Ogierhikhi former member of the Edo House of Assembly and many others.
