Peter Obi announces new political party today

Mr. Peter Obi

Former Governor of Anambra State and frontline Presidential aspirant, Mr. Peter Obi, is expected to announce the new party on which platform he expects to pursue his aspiration today, Friday, May 27, 2022.

A source close to the 2019 Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who just resigned his membership of the PDP said that the announcement is likely to be made through Mr. Obi’s verified Twitter handle or through his Campaign Organisation.

There have been speculations as to which party he would join after dumping the PDP with some speculating that he intends to team up with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) while others suggested that he may adopt the Labour Party (LP).

The announcement, which is expected to be made any time from now will state categorically the next political move of Mr. Obi which many believe will change the political configuration of the country.

His campaign for the presidential ticket of the PDP had reached a dizzying height before his dramatic exit from the main opposition party, with a hugely successful million man march in major cities across the country and consultative visits in the where he had urged delegates to place the interest of their children above the money that some of the aspirants are said to be sharing in dollars and pounds sterling. He had stressed that those given such monies should collect but still vote their conscience, insisting that the money is part of the nation’s commonwealth.

His supporters in the PDP and the other parties are expected to move with him to his new political party to form what many already believe will be a major political force in the country that would provide sanctuary for all those who believe they have been cheated in the primaries of the two major parties in the country, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition PDP.
