Continuing with his countrywide thank you visits and campaigns for candidates of the Labour Party (LP) in the March 18, 2023 Governorship and State Assembly elections, Mr. Peter Obi, the LP Presidential Candidate in the February 25, 2023, elections, has stormed Anambra and Delta States.
Mr. Obi visited his home state, Anambra and had discussions with stakeholders, especially State Assembly candidates in the March 18 election. Contrary to speculations, however, he told the media that he did not ask the LP State Assembly candidates to win elections so as to impeach the Governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
He said he advised them to campaign and win and go to the Assembly to help the governor by legislating for good governance, stressing that if the state is better in the areas of good roads, education, healthcare etc, it would benefit everyone.
“I did not tell Anambra State House of Assembly Labour Party legislators that when elected they should impeach or make Anambra State ungovernable for the governor but to work for the best for the state with him,” he said.
Anambra state is not having a governorship election on March 18 because Obi won a landmark case that introduced staggered elections in the state and in the country.
The LP Presidential Candidate went on to Delta State to canvass support for Mr. Ken Pella, the Labour Party Governorship Candidate for Delta State and has, as he does wherever he goes, electrified the state and the governorship campaign of Pella with his presence.
Also, his presence in Delta State has put paid to claims by some other political parties that they have secured the endorsement of the LP to work with and vote for their governorship and state assembly candidates.
Some political parties had, indeed, put up biiboards, banners and posters that displayed Mr. Obi’s picture alongside their candidates’ pictures to reinforce their claims that he or the LP had secured their support.
The slogan has continued to be, “LP from top to bottom.”
