PHEDC commences installation of 200,000 electricity meters in Bayelsa, Rivers states

Management of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), Tuesday, said the company would commence the distribution and installations of over 200,000 meters to its consumers across its operational areas.
The company also appealedl to its customers to always pay their new monthly tariff to avoid disconnection, saying that payment of tariff would enhance its efficiency and productivity
PHEDC, (a distribution comapny, DISCo) said it has removed fixed charges as a means of collecting tariff from it consumers.
Manager, Corporate Communication, Mr. Jonah Igboma who stated this in Yenagoa while briefing newsmen on the new tariff embarked by the company, equally called on residents of Bayelsa state to supports its programme towards the installation of metering. System in the state and shun acts of vandalism on PHEDC property located in their areas.
He insisted that the prompt payment of monthly tariffs by consumers would enhance energy efficiency and accountability in the company
Distribution companies, he said pay for gas supplies to distribute power to transmission companies to supply electricity to consumers as tariff addresses consumers needs.
While decrying the negative attitude of Bayelsans towards its facilities in the state, the PHEDC urged the youths to protect its critical infrastructures and stop vandalizing its feeder pillars and transformers in their communities.
On the installation of metering system, PHEDC said the operation would commence April 2016 across four states in Niger Delta.
He listed the beneficiary states as Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers and Rivers state respectively.
