POEM: CHRISTMAS By Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu

Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu Chukwu

Day of days,
Defying harmatan haze with rapturous joy
Day of stocktaking,
and groundbreaking birth,
Light and life brought;
With a breath taking message,
A Season of Praise and Thanksgiving,
Garlands of flowers, candles of fragrance and ecstatic carols of glory and renewals.
Testimony of ages, mercies unending.

Roses abound with music and melodies,
Memories and miracles.
The goodies you pour, with same we soar.
Then we wander,
Now we wonder
All are home,
Redeemer has come
No one is alone
Fears, doubts and sorrow gone.

In our dark moments;
When we’re in need and desperate,
Floods and torrents
Spark trou’ your eyes in the manger and save us from danger.
Your Myth and power no one can dare,
Nor deny your love and care.

Gold, Frankincense and myrrh
To us brought courage, victory and Love.
Though our lives are full of mistakes
Yet, Heaven and Earth, with compassion admit new intakes,
Your grace, wisdom and light we seek
Divine Love broke the jinx
And the price,
With Most Precious Virgin Birth,
Christmas brings.
