Police arrests 15 year old, one other for arson, burglary in Bauchi

The Police command of Bauchi State has arrested a 15 –year old boy, Ismaila Suleiman, who specializes in invading houses in Bauchi and stealing valuables after setting the houses on fire.
In a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Bauchi, the Command’s spokesman, Mahmood Mohammed, said Police detectives attached to Yelwa Divisional Police Headquarters, arrested the suspect on 3rd August 2016 following a tip-off.
According to him, upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect and his syndicate used to set houses of their victims on fire and then criminally trespass into the house and steal valuables.
He said that this led to the arrest of his accomplice, one Hussaini Ibrahim, who buys the stolen items noting that he, (Ibrahim) has confessed to the crime.
Mohammed, who is an Assistant Superintendent of Police added: ” on 3rd August, detectives attached to Yelwa Division, following a tip-off, arrested one Isaila Suleiman, male, (15) who invaded the house of one Misbahu Adamu, male, (37) behind Isa Yuguda’s Guest House.
“Discreet investigation revealed that the suspect and his syndicate used to soak rags in petrol and throw into the windows of houses, while the house is on fire, the suspect will criminally trespass into the houses pretending to help put out the fire, but will steal valuables.
“The suspect also stated that one Hussaini Ibrahim is the receiver of the stolen items who, upon interrogation, confessed to the crime”.
The PPRO disclosed that the syndicate was behind the series of mischief by fire in Bauchi metropolis stating that one Abdulazeez aka Zuzu, a member of the syndicate, is now at large.
He said that the case is under investigation, after which the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution, while efforts are in top gear to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.
