Police commence investigation into dumping of dead body in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has commenced investigation to fish-out persons responsible for the killing and dumping of a dead human body in the Uyo metropolis of Akwa Ibom State.

Residents of Ekpri Nsukara in the Uyo metropolis woke-up in the morning of Monday, January 29, 2024 to the ugly sight the body of a lady cut from the trunk and dumped near the gate of Boys Primary School, Anua, Uyo, in the state capital.

The dumped body, which was reportedly cut from the trunk with the body and head taken away, leaving only the legs, was found tucked in a bag by the killers.

A resident of the area identified as Mr. Emmanuel Ekong who is a student of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in a chat with journalists, said that the dead body was found in the early morning of Monday.

“We woke up this early Monday morning to discover the trunk of a young lady inside a ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag, chopped – off from the waist and the other part of the body from the waist to the head taken away by her killers. So, we can’t really identify whether she’s our fellow student, until maybe later,” Ekong noted.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, when contacted confirmed the incident and said that the commissioner of police, Olatoye Durosinmi, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident.

Odiko Macdon said , “We have received that report. It’s just an unfortunate act, a dastardly one at that. It’s unfortunate that some people have no value for life. They can resort to barbaric acts at any given time.

“We are no longer living in the stone age. How can a fellow human being treat his fellow human being that way? The police command will spare no resources to ensure that perpetrators can be brought to book. The commissioner of police, Olatoye Durosinmi, is miffed at the report, and he has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident,” Macdon said.

The force spokesperson concluded his message with a plea for concerned citizens to provide information that could assist the police in tracking the perpetrators of the crime, adding that the police will treat such information with utmost confidentiality.
