Police nab man for raping 5 year old girl to death in Bayelsa

The authorities of the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested a 22 year-old alleged notorious rapist, Timidou Jephther, for sexually assaulting and raping a 5 year old girl to death in Akedei, a riverine community in Sagbama Local Government Area.

Sagbama is the country home of Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state, about two hours from the state capital, Yenagoa.

The command gave the name of the deceased as Queen Kaiser. Police said the suspect was arrested on the 9th of August, 2016 and that the corpse has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, for autopsy.

The Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa state Police Command, Asinim Butswat, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, in a statement said the suspect has been detained at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department SCIID, Yenagoa. He also said that thorough investigation is ongoing on the death of the girl.
