Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has urged the people of Rumuola Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to support Julius Berger to complete the construction of the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park.

The Port Harcourt Pleasure Park is billed to be completed by December, 2016.

Speaking on Wednesday at the site of the ongoing construction of the Park where some indigenes of Rumuola Community raised concerns over the project, Governor Wike said the project will help improve the living standard of the people.

The governor had a direct discussion with elderly women, youths and community leaders at the site, assuring them that their interest will always be protected.

He said rather than disrupt the work of the contractors, the community leaders should always consult with the state Government on their concerns.

Governor Wike said that the project was conceived to create employment opportunities for Rivers people, attract foreign exchange and build the state’s tourism potentials.

Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects, Mr Cyril Dum Wite said that the government has included the community’s interests in the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park project.

He said employments have been extended to artisans from the community, while local purchase orders for the supply of specified building materials have been handed out to community leaders.

Following the meeting between the Governor and the community leaders at the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, the Rumuola Community representatives left the park.
