Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has described the reappointment of the Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Muhammed Ali and the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Dembos, as “a well-deserved vote of confidence.”
She said this in a congratulatory message issued by NiDCOM’s Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Mr Abdur-Rahman Balogun, on Monday in Abuja.
Balogun stated that the NiDCOM boss congratulated the Director-General of the NTA, and the NAN Managing Director on their second three-year tenure renewal by President Bola Tinubu.
NAN reports that the renewal, announced by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Sunday, will see both media chiefs commence their second terms on Oct. 20, 2026.
The two executives were first appointed on Oct. 20, 2023.
Balogun quoted Dabiri-Erewa as saying “the effort of the two dedicated media leaders has been vital in projecting Nigeria’s image both at home and abroad, including to the millions of Nigerians in the diaspora whom NiDCOM represents.”
She asserted that their continued leadership assured the country of sustained, credible and far-reaching coverage of national issues, including the diaspora agenda.
She said the media veterans with years of professional experience demonstrated commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s state media institutions amid ongoing efforts to modernise operations and expand digital reach.
The NiDCOM chairman wished them both continued success as they begin their new terms in service of the nation.
