The wife of Borno State Governor, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, has said that the release of the 21 Chibok schoolgirls has vindicated her and the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government of her husband, Governor Kashim Shettima in Borno state, saying that she was the happiest woman on earth, as a result of the release of the girls by the Boko Haram insurgents and commended President Muhammadu Buhari and security operatives for their unflinching efforts in rescuing the girls.

The Borno First Lady who disclosed this when she led a high powered delegation from the state to pay a visit to the 21 released schoolgirls who are in the custody of the security agencies in Abuja said their release has put to shame the critics of President Buhari.

Addressing the girls, Hajiya Nana advised that the girls, including the previously rescued ones should use education as a weapon to fight back against all forms of terrorism and violence, so that they will serve as role models to others in the society despite their bitter experience.

Mrs Shettima said she was in Abuja to express gratitude to God Almighty for sparing the lives of the girls, noting that though they had tasted the bitter experience of captivity, they should be rest assured that Government will do everything possible to turn their misfortunes to better experience.
“Apart from your biological parents who are happy, myself and my husband, Governor Kashim Shettima are the happiest. I can recall the bitter experience we went through with my husband after the abduction took place at your school in Chibok. Some critics and opposition politicians took up the sad development as an opportunity to say all sorts of accusations and counter accusations against our APC-led government in the state, but thank God now, as this effort in rescuing quiet a number of you has exonerated us from all sorts of baseless accusations and allegations, as it has also shamed our critics.

“I therefore congratulate you, Mr. President Muhammad Buhari, government and people of Borno State, security operatives, Campaigners of Bring Back Our Girls (#BBOG) and all who have shown concern in spending their time, energy and resources which led to the release of some of our missing Chibok schoolgirls”, she added.

“We pray and hope that the remaining Chibok schoolgirls still in the captivity of insurgents will be set free and released back to us as soon as possible,” Nana said.

Earlier in his remarks, Secretary of Borno Elders Forum, Dr. Bulama Mali Gubio, who was part of the delegation, urged the security agencies to quickly allow the released girls to reunite with their parents as according to him, “parents are the best Counselors in the family.”
Responding on behalf of the released girls, Miss Rubecca Mallum, thanked Hajiya Nana and other members of the delegation for the visit, and appealed to government and other security operatives to allow them immediately enroll into Baptismal class which is enshrined in the Christian faith for all adults, as according to her, almost all of them, who are Christians were not baptized before, during and after the abduction saga.

Members of the Borno delegation included Dr. Mali Gubio who is the Secretary of Borno Elders Forum, Deputy Speaker and Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs in the state assembly, Hon. Danlami Kubo, member representing Chibok State House of Assembly, Hon. Ayamu Foni, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajja Fanta Baba Shehu among others.
